NeuroX NJ Ideathon
Two days for neurodivergent high-school and college students. Find a real problem from your own experience, see where AI could help, and leave with a plan that's yours.
About the IdeathonNeuroX brings neurodivergent people, employers and the State of New Jersey together around AI and work. In 2027 there are two events. First up is the NeuroX NJ Ideathon at Rutgers in January.

About the IdeathonThe conference on neurodiversity in the workplace and AI. Employers, government, researchers and neurodivergent people in one room.
About the conferenceThe NeuroX NJ Ideathon is two days at Rutgers University for neurodivergent students across New Jersey. You start from what you know: the problems you see in work, study and everyday life. You find where AI could genuinely help. Then you shape the idea at your own pace, with mentors alongside you. There's no pitch competition. Some projects carry on to the conference in April.
Exact times come with the dates. There is a quiet space open all day.
Every idea meets the same five standards. A slick pitch isn't one of them.
It starts from lived experience. You can say who has the problem and how you know.
You've thought about who could be left out, and how to stop that happening. Anything you build follows the BRAINS standards.
It says what it does and what it doesn't, how you'd know it worked, and what the first step is. No miracle claims.
It collects as little data as possible, with consent, and it doesn't watch people.
It works across New Jersey's communities, whatever people's income, language or zip code. It still works as things change.
This website and our event platform follow the BRAINS standard for code and the BRAINS A11Y accessibility standard. Try the “Display & reading” button at the top of the page.
Neurodivergent people help design and run the day, as facilitators, mentors and reviewers.
A quiet room all day, long breaks, and questions in writing. Nobody is put on the spot.
No pitch competition and no investors judging. Every team is recognised, and some projects carry on to April.

Employers, state government, researchers and neurodivergent people working on one goal: more neurodivergent people in good jobs in New Jersey.
Projects from the January Ideathon are shown here in April. NeuroX New Jersey first ran in 2024.
Every badge can show one of four settings. Each one has a word, a colour and a shape, so it never relies on colour alone.
Come and say hello.
Glad to talk, one to one and somewhere calm. Please say who you are.
A nod or a wave is welcome. Please do not start a conversation.
Please leave me be. It is not personal.
We'll publish how we make each event comfortable, including quiet spaces and captions, with the dates. Our accessibility statement covers this website.
Join the updates list. You'll get a handful of messages, not a newsletter: dates and venue, the programme, and when registration opens and closes.
